Data Analytics & AI Intern

At Northvolt, we leverage vast amounts of heterogeneous data collected across our factories, processed and organized for analysis on our advanced cloud platform.

We are seeking a Data Analytics and AI Intern to enhance our data-driven manufacturing operations. This role involves partnering cross-functionally with the Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to contribute to continuous improvement projects and develop solutions that matter. The ideal candidate is a proactive learner, passionate about data, statistics, and modeling to effectively tell stories and support decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with the Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to troubleshoot and root cause issues in manufacturing operations
• Develop and implement analytics and AI solutions tailored for production, quality, and engineering applications
• Validate and ensure the quality of data used in analyses and decision-making
• Share insights and knowledge of data tooling, datasets, and analytics capabilities with both technical and non-technical teams
• Design and implement data processing pipelines using Apache Spark and manage workflows with Apache Airflow

Skills & Requirements

We believe you have:

• Pursuing or holding a recent degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization, including libraries such as Jupyter, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn, NumPy, SciPy, and Scikit-learn
• Familiarity with machine learning libraries and frameworks like TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch for building and deploying predictive models
• Intern- Comfortable writing SQL queries and working with big data processing technologies such as Apache Spark
• Understanding of workflow management tools like Apache Airflow
• Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD practices relevant to data science and analytics workflows
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams
• Independent, organized, and entrepreneurial spirit thriving in a diverse and international environment

Bonus points for:

• Background in engineering (electro/mechanical/chemical/physical)
• Familiarity with manufacturing industry or Li-ion technology
• Experience with additional data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, Looker studio, PowerBI)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) for data storage, processing, and compute technologies
• Experience with advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.)** **
