Join King, a leader in mobile gaming, as a Director of Engineering. This pivotal role directs the engineering leadership across the Events Product Area, a core division of Candy Crush Saga, reporting to the Head of Events product area. You will lead a strong technical team, architect engineering strategies that are in harmony with business objectives, and cultivate a culture of innovation, inclusion, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Technology & Strategy

• 
  Develop and oversee execution of sophisticated Tech and Engineering strategies together with the Tech leads and Engineering Managers for the Events product area

• Empower the Events product area tech and engineering leaders to improve technical quality, team health, and development efficiency through innovative practices and continuous improvement.

• Oversee and enhance all aspects of the engineering lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and talent retention within the Events product area.

• Manage and direct strategic initiatives to leverage technology in achieving game development goals.

• Foster a strong engineering culture that supports development, recognizes achievements, and nurtures professional growth.

Leadership

• 
  Lead, inspire, act as a role model, and grow a team of talented engineering leaders and technical staff to deliver innovative features to millions of players globally.

• Be the voice of the Events product area and Strategy within King and Candy Crush central tech organisations, liaising, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment of central teams’ roadmaps with area needs. Bring the Tech and Engineering perspective into play, and enable the overarching business goals while being able to recognize dependencies.

• Collaborate closely with other leaders within the Candy business and across King to maintain a diverse, inclusive, playful, and respectful workplace.

Qualifications

• 
  Proven experience in leading large-scale technical organizations (20+ people), preferably within the gaming or software development industries.

• Demonstrable ability to formulate and execute tech and engineering strategies that meet business needs.

• Strong technical background in software engineering, with hands-on experience being a strong advantage.

• Exceptional people management, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within technical teams.

• Efficient and Effective communication skills, experience in negotiations is considered a plus.
